Wiz Khalifa considers Pittsburgh his home.  This hip-hop rap artist was born in North Dakota blights due to parents that were in the Air Force, lived in a variety of countries including Germany, Japan and England.  Once his mother left the military, she went back to Pittsburgh, which is where she was originally from.  He did go back and forth from his mom and dad until he was in high school and it was decided that he should stay in Pittsburgh for good.  He has been interviewed quite a bit about the influence about the Wiz Khalifa Pittsburgh sound and he says that it has had a huge impact on his music.  He said that just being around some of the music of the clubs and DJs in Pittsburgh has influenced him as he has grown up. 

Pittsburgh is not considered a major hip-hop rap artist scene and Wiz Khalifa has stated that he has a lot of pride about representing the city that he is proud that he is been able to make a huge impact on the rap scene as a Pittsburgher.  Some other influences, in addition to the Wiz Khalifa Pittsburgh sound, has been the fact that he was always a fan of all kinds of music.  He said that there was always music in his home and is just natural that it would be something that he would end up doing.  He has been influenced by other artists like Snoop Dogg, Devin the Dude, Bone Thugs N Haromony, Biggie , and others. 

Not only has Wiz Khalifa been influenced by the Pittsburgh sound, but also through a lot of rock and other types of music as well.  You can hear his techno beat and strong rhythms in just about every one of his singles, mix tapes and albums.  He also uses a lot of local production staff that he has met and has had a lot of history with.  It is the consistency of these people that has helped to project some of the beats and sounds.  Not only has was Khalifa been influenced by his hometown, but he has taken all of his experiences and contacts to produce quality mix tapes.
