The businessman who is also a senior member of the ruling party, was granted a new trial due to a technicality. Hisham Moustafa and his bodyguard were convicted of killing Suzanne Tamin in Dubai. The murder occurred in 2008. She was a famous Lebanese singer. It has been alleged that he had a relationship with her before she was killed.

The charges include that he and his bodyguard conspired to kill Suzanne Tamin at one of the hotels that he owns. He supposedly paid his bodyguard to have her murdered after she would not accept his marriage proposal. Both of the men were sentenced to hang but an appeal was granted, citing errors which occur during the trial

Suzanne Tamin had to count her fame after winning a talent show. She had numerous struggles, both personal and professional. She was found in the Dubai hotel with her throat slit. Both men have denied the charges and if found guilty for a second time still have the option of filing a third appeal. It is not very common for those members of the elite political sector to be charged in such cases. They are often seen as above the law and this is created quite a bit of interest in that particular region.
