March madness is finally over and we have crowned the new champion. Duke University beat Butler University in a game that was exciting and thrilling until the last seconds. Butler University was playing in front of their hometown fans and kept the game close throughout. Even had to delete a couple times and were in position to win the game with a few seconds left, but the half court shot bounced around the rim and failed to go in.

The NCAA tournament has been thrilling since the beginning. There’ve been so many upsets and surprises that have kept everyone involved in the progress of little-known teams such as Butler. The only remaining number one seed left in the tournament was Duke University. All the others got knocked off in earlier rounds. Butler played throughout the tournament with an intensity and a defense that became unbeatable. Duke University had a relatively easy schedule until their match up with West Virginia. They were able to be West Virginia extremely easy and many thought that they would be able to trample the small Butler University squad.

 Butler had something different to say about this. They did have a few mistakes and were unable to contain Duke University scoring threats. However, they did put Duke into early foul trouble, which greatly helped keep them in the game. Butler became a symbol for the small schools taking on the giant powerhouses of the NCAA. Even though they didn’t win, they have nothing to be ashamed of. They had a great tournament and hopefully we can see them come back next year just to strong, if not stronger. For Duke, the team that people either love or hate, they have now gained their fourth national championship title.
